About Alyssa Sussdorf, MA, LLPC, NCC

I am a National Certified Counselor and Limited Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where children, adolescents, and young adults can feel seen, heard, and valued. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Andrews University and am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology.

My counseling approach is both Person-Centered and Humanistic, rooted in the belief that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing when provided with empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine connection. I also help clients explore how early experiences and relationships shape their sense of self and patterns of connection in the present.

I have experience working in medical settings and university counseling centers, supporting clients with concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, adoption, foster care, divorce, and identity development. While my foundation is Humanistic and Person-Centered, I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to provide clients with practical tools they can use in daily life.

About Alyssa:

Beyond my clinical work, I volunteer with Harbor of Hope’s community programs in Benton Harbor, which focus on promoting nonviolence and mental health awareness. In my free time, I enjoy walking my dog, watching sunsets, swimming, hiking, painting, dancing, singing, acting in plays, and enjoying musicals.
