About Ellen Eggerding, LPC, MA
Have you ever just wanted someone to sit and listen to you? Would you like to have a conversation, and not have the person you’re talking to turn the conversation to be about them? Do you feel like people around you just “don’t get it”? Or maybe you’re surrounded by people who tell you what to do? And then with all the different opinions, you just don’t know which way to turn.
I would be honored to hear you and your heart. I will sit and dissect the circumstances you are experiencing and work with you to understand the full picture, and then work towards a place of resolution. This may involve some hard work, which may look like finding a voice of assertion, coming to face some hard realities, and / or accepting things you do not readily want to. My personal life experience includes anxiety, panic attacks, isolation, severe depression, and suicidal ideation, with the most recent experience of being a new “empty nester.” I have personally gone through the struggles of counseling and healing. This is how I “ended up in the counselor’s seat.”
Prior to becoming a professional counselor, I was a lay counselor for over ten years, then pursued my education at Cornerstone University, Spring Arbor University and Western Michigan University. I have now been a professional licensed counselor for over five years. My experience has been with mainly adults and older adults. I have worked for a brief time with Ottawa County CMH, and then also with Pine Rest, Hospice of Holland and Emmanuel Hospice. I have been with Hope and Wholeness since June of 2018. My heart is with those who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, death and dying, and suicide.
Ellen's Story
I have been married to my soul-mate since 1989, and we have two adopted daughters from China, whom we adore. My family is my everything. We also have a Labrador retriever and two cats. I was raised in the Lutheran Church and my husband and I now attend a non-denominational church in the Holland area. My personal relationship with Jesus is where I find purpose and meaning in my life. In my free time I enjoy reading, thrift store shopping, and antiquing ~ all with a cup of coffee in my hand!
