About Michelle Van Elst, LMSW

I am passionate about working alongside children, adolescents, and young adults struggling through depression, anxiety, difficult life stressors, and low self esteem. My passion as a therapist comes from a desire to help each client feel empowered to share their unique story and voice with the world. I create a safe space to navigate challenges, build coping skills, and ultimately, take control of your life and your story.

I primarily use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness strategies, as well as elements of art and play therapies to build skills to help you cope with the challenges of life.

Michelle's Story:

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Trinity Christian College in 2017, and I received my Master’s in Social Work in 2019 from Grand Valley State University. In my professional career, I have worked in outpatient settings with high acuity clients, and in the past two years, I have worked in private practice. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter, and our dog Coco Bean. We love playing and watching sports, playing games, and finding a fun show to watch together.
