Kim is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Hope and Wholeness Psychology Center, with over two decades of experience dedicated to youth mental health. Her career is rooted in a deep-seated mission to provide the support she found lacking in her own youth, helping clients navigate grief, loss, and the unique complexities of childhood and adolescence.
Kim’s diverse professional background includes roles as a special education teacher, a school counselor, and a Youth Services Specialist for the City of Holland, where she spearheaded leadership training for local students. She earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Calvin University and her Master of Science in Counseling from Sacramento State University. Before joining Hope and Wholeness to be in private practice, Kim worked for a large counseling agency in Zeeland, Michigan.
Kim has a unique gift for connecting with young people. Whether she is working with a child through Play Therapy or helping a teenager navigate complex social pressures, Kim meets her clients exactly where they are. She understands that for children, “play” is their most powerful form of communication, using it as a bridge to build trust, resolve conflict, and foster emotional healing.
As a mother of both biological and adopted children—all of whom have navigated the special education system—Kim offers a personalized and collaborative approach to counseling that is warm and supportive. Her therapeutic techniques include Play Therapy, Animal Assisted Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness. Kim is a passionate advocate for parents, helping them decode the complexities of rearing children to ensure their children receive the support they need to thrive. She has a genuine interest in providing holistic and culturally appropriate psychoeducation to equip families to address mental health issues
proactively. Her hope is that through counseling, children and families will be able to experience genuine growth and transformation.
