“Hello, my name is Laura DeKok, and I’m a licensed mental health counselor committed to creating a safe, supportive space for healing, self-discovery, and growth. I specialize in working with trauma survivors, teenagers navigating the challenges of adolescence, women managing life transitions, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of themselves.
My approach is rooted in compassion, cultural sensitivity, and evidence-based practices, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and strengths-based techniques. I believe that healing is not a linear process, and I work collaboratively with clients to meet them exactly where they are—with patience, respect, and care.
Whether you’re working through past trauma, facing emotional overwhelm, exploring your identity, or striving to build a more authentic life, I’m here to walk with you on that journey. Together, we’ll create space for healing, resilience, and meaningful transformation.
I grew up in Michigan, but have lived in Minnesota for the past 15 years. During that time I received my education and licensing in mental health counseling. I have worked with individuals of all ages. Upon returning to Michigan I hope to use my experience to help others looking to work on their own mental health. Some specific areas that I have experience working with are domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, adoption, self-esteem, LGBTQ community, teens and adults who went through group homes, and grief.
When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and my many rescue animals. Being back in my home state is exciting, and I am eager to help you on your journey to a better understanding of yourself.”
