About Emily Darling Funk, LPC, NCC, IMH-E

Do you worry about your child’s behavior or emotional health? About your own emotional health? Maybe you are grieving the loss of a child? Take hope, because you have come to the right place.  I have been walking beside women and couples struggling with these issues for 10 years. I have seen many people in your place recover and begin to live more fulfilling and purposeful lives.

I have two areas of specialization: working with children/adolescents, and working with the parents who care for them. More specifically, I treat “stressed out mom syndrome”, post-partum depression/anxiety, and grief from loss of a child. With children, I treat trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and behavioral disorders such as ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I am passionate about helping families function at their best!

I am confident I can assist you in achieving your wellness goals. My therapeutic style is relational, warm, genuine, and open. I strive to create a peaceful environment where you feel free to be yourself without judgment. I would love to sit down with you and explore your needs. Please contact me to make an appointment or ask any questions!

Emily's Story

I knew from a young age that I wanted to pursue a profession where I could work with children. I began my educational career seeking a degree in special education from Grand Valley State University. Through my studies, I discovered how much I loved working with children and their parents in a more individualized way. That led me to shift my focus into psychology and mental health counseling.

I have worked with children and families in a variety of treatment settings: including residential, community-based, group, and outpatient. While my work has afforded me experience across different settings, what hasn’t changed for me is the deep respect I hold for my clients as I walk with them through some of the most challenging seasons of their lives.

I live in West Michigan with my husband and two children. We love taking advantage of the beauty that Michigan has to offer, and get outside to swim, ski, snowshoe, and hike whenever possible. I look forward to helping you on your journey!
